Five premium features that strengthen safety performance and client confidence

Each zone is designed to improve daily site performance while presenting a clear, organised and high-standard approach that clients, principal contractors and site teams can immediately recognise.

Zone 1

First Aid

Each Safe Zone incorporates a fully equipped First Aid station, designed to provide immediate support for minor injuries and facilitate an effective initial response to incidents on site.

The station includes a deluxe first aid kit, sized appropriately for either 25 or 50 operatives, ensuring adequate provision in line with site workforce requirements. This enables quick access to essential medical supplies without delay.

An eyewash station is also provided, complete with two bottles of eyewash solution and an integrated mirror. This setup allows operatives to safely and effectively irrigate the eyes in the event of contamination, supporting rapid self-administration or assisted use.

To support day-to-day welfare, a glasses cleaning station is included, helping operatives maintain clear vision and reducing the risk of incidents caused by impaired visibility.

An earplug dispenser is incorporated within the unit, promoting hearing protection compliance and providing convenient access to PPE where and when it is needed.

Seasonal considerations are also addressed through the inclusion of sun cream, promoting skin protection during periods of prolonged exposure to sunlight.

Clear communication is reinforced with a First Aid information board, displaying details of trained first aiders and/or the emergency response team. This ensures that all personnel can quickly identify and contact the appropriate individuals in the event of an incident.

Additionally, there is the option to integrate a defibrillator (AED) cabinet on selected units, further enhancing the site’s emergency response capability and supporting life-saving intervention where required.

By centralising these provisions within a clearly defined location, the First Aid Safe Zone significantly improves accessibility, response time, and overall site safety performance.

Zone 2

Fire Response

Each Safe Zone incorporates a dedicated Fire Response station, designed to support immediate action in the event of a fire and to enhance overall site emergency preparedness.

The station is equipped with two 6-litre water mist fire extinguishers, providing a highly versatile fire-fighting solution. Water mist technology is effective across multiple fire classes, including solid combustibles, flammable liquids, and electrical fires, making it suitable for the varied risks typically encountered on construction sites.

These extinguishers are safe to use on live electrical equipment and are designed for intuitive operation, meaning they can be deployed quickly by operatives without the need for extensive prior training. This ensures that early-stage fire incidents can be addressed promptly, reducing the risk of escalation.

In addition, each Safe Zone includes a clearly visible manual call point, allowing operatives to raise the alarm immediately in the event of a fire. This call point can function as a standalone unit or, ideally, be integrated into the site-wide fire alarm system, ensuring rapid communication and coordinated evacuation across the entire site.

Clear signage and fire action information can also be displayed within this zone, reinforcing procedures and ensuring all personnel understand the correct response in an emergency.

By centralising fire-fighting equipment and alarm activation within a clearly defined location, the Fire Response Safe Zone improves reaction times, supports effective incident management, and strengthens overall site fire safety compliance.

Feature 2 Fire Response
Zone 3

Emergency Spill Response

Each Safe Zone incorporates a dedicated Emergency Spill Response station, designed to enable rapid and effective management of oil and chemical spills on site.

The station is equipped with a 20-litre oil spill response kit, supplied in a clearly identifiable and easy-to-handle carry bag. This ensures that absorbents and containment materials are readily available and can be quickly deployed to control and mitigate spills.

In addition, each Safe Zone includes a distinctive set of “turtle” spill response tools, comprising a plastic shovel, plastic squeegee, and plastic broom. These tools are non-conductive and suitable for use with a wide range of substances, including oils and chemicals, enhancing safety during clean-up operations.

The unique and highly visible design of this equipment serves a dual purpose: it allows operatives to quickly locate the correct tools during an incident, and it discourages removal for general site use, ensuring that spill response equipment remains available at all times when required.

Each Safe Zone also features a clear, step-by-step spill response guide, displayed on the unit. This provides operatives with straightforward instructions on how to safely manage both oil and chemical spills, including initial actions, containment, clean-up, and reporting procedures.

By centralising spill response resources and guidance within a clearly defined and standardised location, the Safe Zone enables operatives to respond to incidents quickly and effectively, reducing environmental impact, minimising risk, and supporting compliance with site environmental and safety procedures.

Zone 4

Operative Wellbeing

Each Safe Zone incorporates a dedicated Operative Wellbeing area, providing a clearly defined space where personnel can safely step away from active work areas.

The Safe Zone acts as a designated mobile phone safe spot, allowing operatives to use their phones without exposing themselves to site hazards. By formalising this activity within a controlled environment, the risk associated with distracted working is significantly reduced.

Each Safe Zone also displays a range of wellbeing and safety reminders, reinforcing key site risks and safe behaviours. This includes highlighting the dangers of plant and machine operating radiuses, and reminding operatives to obtain a clear “thumbs up” or visual confirmation from the operator before entering these areas.

There is also the option to include reminders relating to overhead hazards, such as men working above. These prompts encourage operatives to look up and assess their surroundings when entering an area, reducing the risk of injury from falling objects or ongoing works at height.

In addition, the Safe Zone serves as a visible reminder of wider safety principles and site controls, promoting awareness and encouraging consistent safe behaviours across the workforce.

This area can be further enhanced with a range of optional features, tailored to suit site requirements. These may include additional welfare provisions, seasonal considerations, or project-specific safety initiatives, ensuring that the Safe Zone continues to support both the physical and mental wellbeing of operatives.

By providing a structured and accessible space for low-risk activities and short breaks, the Operative Wellbeing Safe Zone contributes to improved concentration, reduced fatigue, and a stronger overall safety culture on site.

Feature 4 Site Information
Zone 5

Health & Safety Information

Each Safe Zone incorporates a dedicated Health & Safety Information area, providing a central and accessible point for critical site communication.

The unit features a clearly defined section displaying company emergency contact details, including key personnel names and telephone numbers. This ensures that operatives can quickly identify and contact the appropriate individuals in the event of an incident or emergency.

An A3 snap frame is integrated into the Safe Zone for displaying a site-specific plan, enabling operatives to clearly identify current walkways, high-risk areas, and emergency points across the site. The snap frame format allows for quick and straightforward updates, ensuring that information remains accurate as site conditions change.

Each Safe Zone is also equipped with document holders for storing relevant risk assessments, method statements (RAMS), and permits applicable to that specific area. This ensures that operatives have immediate access to the information they need to carry out tasks safely and in compliance with site procedures.

In addition, each Safe Zone includes an observation reporting system, providing operatives with a simple and accessible way to report both positive and negative observations on site. This can be facilitated digitally via a QR code or manually using observation report cards, supported by an integrated project postbox. The system encourages workforce engagement and allows for anonymous reporting, helping to identify trends, improve behaviours, and strengthen the overall safety culture.

All displayed information can be updated on a weekly or monthly basis, or as required by the site, supporting dynamic environments and maintaining accuracy throughout the project lifecycle.

By centralising essential information, documentation, and reporting tools within a consistent and highly visible location, the Safe Zone improves communication, enhances situational awareness, and supports safer decision-making across the workforce.
